About Majykri

Built from real-world research impact practice

Majykri® is a specialist research impact planning tool created by Dr Tamika Heiden and the Research Impact Academy.

It brings more than a decade of research impact practice into a structured digital process, helping researchers, research teams and research professionals work through the connected decisions involved in planning a pathway to impact.

Majykri® combines this structured approach with AI-supported idea generation. Users receive prompts and suggestions to consider while retaining control over what is relevant, realistic and appropriate for their research.

Why Majykri was created

Research impact planning can involve a series of difficult and connected questions.

Who might use the research? What would they need from it? What outputs would be useful? How might engagement support uptake or use? What changes could follow? What evidence could show whether those changes are occurring?

For more than a decade, Dr Tamika Heiden and the Research Impact Academy have worked with researchers, research teams and organisations on these kinds of questions.

That work showed that researchers often benefit from a structured process that helps them move from their research and intended impact to the users, outputs, engagement, outcomes and evidence that connect the two.

Majykri was created to make that structured thinking available through a digital tool that researchers can use when they need it.

From research impact practice to a digital tool

The approach behind Majykri grew out of Dr Heiden’s work through the Research Impact Academy, supporting research impact planning, stakeholder engagement, knowledge translation, and impact evaluation.

Across consulting, workshops and facilitated planning, recurring questions emerged.

Who needs to know about or use the research? What needs to be produced for those users? What interaction or engagement may be required? What changes would indicate progress towards impact? How could those changes be evidenced?

Majykri brings these questions together within a guided planning process. Rather than starting with a blank page, users work through a sequence of decisions and can draw on AI-generated suggestions to broaden their thinking, test possibilities and identify options relevant to their research.

The Majykri approach

Start with potential research users

Research impact depends on research being used, applied, adopted or informing decisions. Majykri encourages users to consider who may use the research and what those people, groups or organisations may need.

Connect the pathway

Majykri helps users consider the relationships between research users, outputs, engagement, outcomes, impact and evidence.

Each decision informs the next, helping users build a pathway in which the different elements connect.

Use AI to broaden the thinking

Majykri uses AI to generate suggestions based on information provided by the user.

These suggestions are options to consider. Users decide what is relevant, adapt ideas where needed and shape the pathway according to their research, context and intended impact.

Keep researchers in control

Research impact pathways depend on context, relationships and judgement.

Majykri provides structure, prompts and ideas while leaving decisions about relevance, feasibility and direction with the people who understand the research and its context.

About the people behind Majykri

At the heart of Majykri® is a small, expert team driven by a big vision: to make research impact planning easier, more innovative, and more engaging.

Dr Tamika Heiden, Founder

Dr Tamika Heiden founded Majykri and serves as the founder and director of the Research Impact Academy.

Her work focuses on research impact, knowledge translation, stakeholder engagement, impact planning and evaluation, working with researchers, universities, research organisations and funding bodies.

The thinking process within Majykri draws directly from this practical experience supporting researchers to develop clearer pathways between their research and the changes they want that research to contribute to.

The Research Impact Academy Team

Research Impact Academy develops research impact capability through training, consulting, resources and specialist support for researchers and research organisations.

Majykri was created by Dr Tamika Heiden and the Research Impact Academy to provide another way for researchers and research professionals to access structured research impact planning support.

It allows researchers and research professionals to work through core impact planning questions independently, while drawing on an approach shaped through years of applied research impact practice.

A practical tool for ongoing impact planning

Impact pathways can change as research develops, relationships grow, and new opportunities emerge.

Majykri can be used at the beginning of a project, during funding development, as part of team planning or when an existing pathway needs to be reconsidered.

The aim is to give researchers a structured place to think through the decisions involved and produce a pathway they can continue to work with.
